I use instrument, body and voice to help bring music alive. My goal is to help you master your sheet music, jazz solo, Solo/Ensemble piece, or original composition, while also developing your creativity and learning to LOVE music from the inside-out. There's so much more to music than just reading notes and rhythms!

My philosophy

Music is a tool for self-discovery: to express yourself, connect with others, and have fun! I believe it's important to take risks and experiment because that's how you grow and develop your passion. It's not about sounding good at first. It's about getting rid of all that pressure, so you can come to know yourself as a musician and learn to make music that's straight from your heart. Amazingly, that's when you sound your very best!

Be Creative!

Too often, learning music focuses on playing the right notes and rhythms. Being creative means letting go of right and wrong, exploring, and having so much more fun!

Embrace what's up!

Use your feelings (joy, funk, giddy, grumbly) to express and find yourself. This greatly enhances what emerges as you play, and your performances will be full of life.

Discover yourself!

As you learn to PLAY with music you'll discover your strengths, what you love, and what brings you joy. Learn how to play music in a way that fills you up.

Relate to music in a whole new way!

Master pieces by connecting with the composer's energy and emotion. Use your body, voice, and instrument to discover and develop the music inside of you. There's no wrong way to do it!
